Music for an English Cathedral
Neil Street Uniting Church, Ballarat. 8:00 pm

David is guest organist for Queen's College Choir, the University of Melbourne, for their performce of English romantic works from their recent CD, including choral music by S S Wesley (Evening service in E), Elgar, CV Stanford, Vaughan Williams (Five Mystical Songs), Parry and Wood. Solo organ works played by David include Percy Whitlock's delightful Psalm 23: Pastorale and Vaughan Williams' Toccata for St David's Day. The Queen's College Choir is conducted by John Weretka.

This performance is part of the Organs of the Ballarat Goldfields 2016 festival.

Vespers for the King
Neil Street Uniting Church, Ballarat. 8:00 pm

David is organist for Vespers as it would have been performed in the Royal Chapel at Versailles in the presence of Louis XIV. He plays organ continuo with the Newman Baroque Orchestra and the Consort of Melbourne performing Royal Motets of the French Court. Solo organ works by Louis-Nicolas Cérambault and Michel Corrette The performance is conducted by Gary Ekkle.

This performance is part of the Organs of the Ballarat Goldfields 2016 festival.

In Eclesiis: The Music of St Mark's Venice
St Patrick's Cathedral, Ballarat, 8:00 pm

David joins the Australian Chamber Choir and the Renaissance Ensemble as organ soloist and continuo player to perform the music of Gabrieli, Monteverdi, Schutz, Lotti, Willaert and Frescobaldi. Solo organ works by Antonio Gabrielli on the Early Music Studio (Melbourne University) Klopp organ tuned in quarter comma meantone. The performance is conducted by Douglas Lawrence and the Renaissance Ensemble is led by Simon Rickard.

Mornington Peninsula, 2:30 pm

David is performing with the Peninsula Chamber Musicians in two of their 2016 Concert Series appearances. The first concert includes J S Bach's Brandenburg Concerto 6 BWV 1051 and his Violin Concerto in A minor BWV 1041 with Andrew Hall as soloist. The concert includes Mozart's Symphony No 41 'Jupiter'.

J S Bach Mass in B Minor BWV 232

David's second engagement with the Australian Chamber Choir in 2016 is for four performances of the B Minor Mass. Described by Manning Clark as "The greatest product of the human mind" the composition of this work occupied Bach over many years and was not completed until 1749. The ACC's performance brings together our finest specialist musicians playing period instruments.

Ensemble 642
Klagelieder: Lamentations for Holy Week

The Scots' Church, Corner of Collins & Russell Streets, Melbourne, 1:00 pm

This performance by members of Ensemble 642 and guests includes music Buxtehude, Schmelzer, Erlebach, Reincken and Schütz. Hannah Lane, on triple harp, Nick Pollock, theorbo, Ruth Wilkinson, violone, Elizabeth Welch and Emma Williams, baroque violin are joined by Jacob Lawrence, tenor.

Bookings are not required and this concert is provided free of charge by the Wardens of Scots' Church as a gift to the people of Melbourne.

J S Bach: St Matthew Passion

The Australian Bach Choir is joined by a stellar cast of soloists for this very special performance. I will be the organist for the continuo 1 group with Roseanne Hunt on cello. The evangelist is Andrew Goodwin.

G F Handel: Messiah
Trinity College Choir and The Impossible Orchestra

Australia's most highly regarded college choir will present this concert under the direction of guest conductor Andrew Wailes. The finest early music instrumentalists from around Australia have been booked for this. I will be the harpsichordist and Dr Calvin Bowman, ex Trinity College organ scholar, will be joining with us on organ for this performance.

The soloists are:

Richard Butler: Tenor  
Oliver Mann: Bass

September - October, 2016
Europe

For the third time in three years, David will be performing in Europe, this time mostly in Austria and Southern Germany with performances on both harpsichord and organ. Included in the repertoire will be Australian compositions including Timothy McKenry's Máskîl and Fugue in B and music by Max Reger.
